At a recent event, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) said, in a reference to American Jewish supporters of Israel, “I want to talk about the political influence in this country that says that it is OK for people to push for allegiance to a foreign country.” When criticized by House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita M. Lowey (D-N.Y.), who is Jewish, Omar wrote on Twitter, \u201cI should not be expected to have allegiance\/pledge support to a foreign country in order to serve my country in Congress.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
This is what Vice President Mike Pence said today at the annual conference of AIPAC, the America-Israel Political Affairs Committee, the preeminent American pro-Israeli lobbying group:<\/p>\n
As I stand before you, eight Democrat candidates for president are actually boycotting this very conference. So let me be clear on this point, anyone who aspires to the highest office in the land should not be afraid to stand with the strongest supporters of Israel in America.
