{"id":143,"date":"2003-06-09T12:58:37","date_gmt":"2003-06-09T17:58:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/?p=143"},"modified":"2003-06-09T12:58:37","modified_gmt":"2003-06-09T17:58:37","slug":"pump_priming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2003\/06\/09\/pump_priming.html","title":{"rendered":"Pump priming"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If the idea behind the tax cut\/&#8221;refund&#8221; is that money in the hands of the public will do more to stimulate the economy than that same money in the hands of the government, does it make <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdharris.net\/archives\/2003_06.html#002351\">any difference <\/a>whether it&#8217;s going to folks who (would have) paid that money in taxes or not?<\/p>\n<p>(Note: I&#8217;m not convinced that such pump priming is actually a good idea, especially to the extent that it deepens the deficit and threatens to push up interest rates &#8230; but if it <i>is <\/i>a good idea, then it should be a good idea regardless.
