You know, for all the dread that folks lived under in the 50s and 60s, with the threat of world-ending nuclear war, you’d think that the GOP would be a bit more sensitive about bandying about “going nuclear” and “all-out, total war” when it comes to political wrangling in Washington. <\/p>\n
It seems either wildly trivializing of something awful (consider how “There’s going to be a Holocaust on the Senate floor” or “We’re going to go all Rwanda on the other side” or “We’re going to crucify them out there” would sound) or just childish (i.e., “Hey, look at the huge size of my … metaphor!”).<\/p>\n
Or maybe it’s just dread over being out of (elected) power conjuring up fears from the past. Except that they’ve been using “going nuclear” as a phrase for many years.<\/p>\n
