Like everything else lately, this particular impending vacation has been swooshing toward us at high speed without any sense that we have control over it. Which is kind of a weird way of looking at a holiday from stress and worry.<\/p>\n
We’ve been making arrangements for while we’re away, and thinking about what we need to pack. Margie’s been doing yeoman’s duty in making what reservations and plans need to be made. <\/p>\n

We have some extra time on our hands for this trip, as we’re not doing the “pick up the kid from school and race to the airport” routine. Rather, I have Friday off, and Katherine has a short day. We don’t actually leave until Saturday afternoon, so we also have Saturday morning to complete getting ready.<\/p>\n
Actually, the getting ready part in terms of packing should be pretty straightforward. I am certain we will forget something, but it’s not like we’re headed off into the wilderness (“Oh, no! I am short on clothing! Wherever will I find a new t-shirt here at Walt Disney World! Eek!”).<\/p>\n
No, my worries are more around the house, and making it marginally less of a disaster area than it presently is (if for no other reason than it would be nice to come home to a non-disastrous house). I did get all the boxes in the living room put away. Well, mostly. All the wine deliveries cataloged and into the cellar, all the Christmas-in-May bits tucked away. Still plenty and too much to do, but …<\/p>\n
Sprinklers are more or less in shape — timer is on, and a repair guy is coming out this morning to (I hope) fix the one zone that seems way under-pressured (I’m 75% it’s a valve sticking in the control box, but since that whole line got rearranged and reconfigured as part of the front yard relandscaping, it could be any number of things, none of them pretty).<\/p>\n
And, of course, too much to do at the office before I leave for a week. Rrg.<\/p>\n
Already thinking in terms of what has to be done vs. what will just have to wait.<\/p>\n
