Finally got out there, and things are looking (even in the back yard) great. I cleaned out a bunch of deadwood from the (back) roses, as well as doing a front-to-back blasting of RoundUp for the stray weedy evil.

Note that the dandelion situation in the yard this year is well under control, thanks to Weed Man. The dandelion situation in the flower beds is not, but that’s my responsibility. I need some more mulch.

I also did some clean-up and evaluation of the last of the pots of plants we salvaged prior to the relandscaping. The couple of roses that were there didn’t weather (or weren’t well removed, which I suspect is more the case), but some of the other plants and grasses are fine.

Which leads us to Phase II out front, or something like that. We are getting our tree (an example photo is attached) planted next Friday afternoon, after which we can start seriously considering Where We Want to Put More Stuff. We have three mulched beds I haven’t done anything into, plus the rock bed on the corner by the garage, plus there will be some space around the maple tree.

Which, of course, aside from the plants we salvaged, means GARDEN NURSERY ROAD TRIP! Woot!

We’re holding off on planting the (cool, cheap) pots we picked up at JoAnne’s (of all places) until after KOA, to reduce the watering burden on the house sitters. Which will mean another shopping trip. Love buying plants (which is, perhaps, why I kill so many of them).

Between rain and vacation and other stuff, I’ve not been giving the yard the attention it’s needed.
