She ran it and, &#8220;Uh-oh, it came back declined.&#8221; Tried it again, with the same result, so I used another card.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Odd, but &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Back at the office, I checked the card at the company site. It showed expected balances. I checked my bill-paying site. All was well there, too.<\/p>\n<p>When I got home early (for a late work call), there was a message from the credit card company. I didn&#8217;t call back the number they left (duh), but called the number on the back of the card.<\/p>\n<p>The automated voice&nbsp;asked me to confirm a mysterious transaction, which was &#8230; lunch. Um, yeah, confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>The automated voice then said that if I&#8217;d had a problem with the card earlier in the day, it was due to a &#8220;temporary hold&#8221; while they were validating a different purchase.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Aha! I suspect the mass of <a href=\"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2009\/08\/02\/doing-well-by-doing-good.html\">contributions<\/a> yesterday might have pricked someone&#8217;s electronic ears up.<\/p>\n<p>I was then informed that all was well, and I was free to continue racking up consumer credit balances.
