Lloyd Doggett with anti-health care chants.<\/a> &#8211; Ah, the standard GOP devotion to civil discourse.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/obsidianwings.blogs.com\/obsidian_wings\/2009\/08\/by-publiusmomentum-in-congress-seems-to-be-gaining-for-new-sanctions-against-iran-that-would-cut-off-its-imports-of-refined-g.html\">New Sanctions for Iran?<\/a> &#8211; Money graf: &#8220;I mean, if I were the regime, I would be praying for new American sanctions. It\u2019s not only distracting from the \u201celection,\u201d sanctions would actually reinforce the regime\u2019s legitimacy. Sanctions would also put reformers in a very difficult internal position. I mean, how many successful politicians do you know who adopted the \u201cwe should give in to the hated foreigners\u2019 threats and attacks\u201d platform?&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.schneier.com\/blog\/archives\/2009\/08\/building_in_sur.html\">Building in Surveillance<\/a> &#8211; A valuable point: surveillance systems are just as capable of being hacked as anything else, which means all that monitoring capability can be used by anyone who can do so. Which, clearly, they don&#8217;t, hence the rhetorical demagoguery.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/2009\/08\/01\/olbermann-oreilly-truce\/\">A truce between MSNBC and Fox News?<\/a> &#8211; I&#8217;m not sure I understand how journalism, in pursuit of the &#8220;truth&#8221; and reporting &#8220;reality,&#8221; should be declaring truces with anyone.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/2009\/08\/01\/rnc-steele-wingnut\/\">RNC Adopts Wingnut Agenda: Calls \u2018Obamacare\u2019 Socialism, Bans Cap-And-Trade,  Condemns Obama\u2019s \u2018Czars\u2019<\/a> &#8211; I&#8217;m hoping that this is party-platform-style appealing to the base, not what they really think.
