(part IV): Bill loves him some cancer  quackery [Respectful Insolence]<\/a> &#8211; Thus demonstrating a few things:  (1) The &#8220;rationalists&#8221; don&#8217;t beatify anyone; if you say stupid stuff, it doesn&#8217;t matter how popular you are in other areas, you&#8217;ll be called on the stupid stuff you say. (2) People, even usually interesting, intelligent, important people do, in fact, have irrational or poorly-considered view.  Cults of personality are inevitably doomed to self-destruction or self-deception.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blogoscoped.com\/archive\/2009-09-20-n89.html\">Project Indect and the &#8220;automatic detection&#8221; of &#8220;abnormal behaviour or  violence&#8221;<\/a> &#8211; Hmmmm &#8230; computers that detect, report on, and perhaps take other actions to stop abnormal or violent human behavior.  Yeah, nothing could possibly go wrong there &#8230;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/feedproxy.google.com\/~r\/blogspot\/MKuf\/~3\/3vmWepYmC8Q\/mysterious-series-for-hg-wells.html\">A mysterious series for H.G. They might as well be calling him a &#8220;monster&#8221; or a &#8220;pirate&#8221; or a &#8220;really creepy guy&#8221; for all that it actually is meant to impart information rather than trigger emotion.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rightwingwatch.org\/content\/harry-jackson-religious-right-activists-please-stop-sounding-racists\">Harry Jackson to Religious Right activists: Please stop sounding like racists: Peter<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/feedproxy.google.com\/~r\/SlipperyBrick\/~3\/z4lg6desMbY\/\">LED Jumper Cables from the future<\/a> &#8211; That&#8217;s very clever.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/afarensis99.wordpress.com\/2009\/07\/10\/the-texas-social-studies-standards-are-flakier-than-the-science-standards\/\">The Texas Social Studies Standards Are Flakier Than The Science Standards \u00ab Afarensis: Anthropology, Evolution, and Science<\/a> &#8211; I&#8217;d be curious as to how many folks get booted from coverage in their history books are women, ethnic\/racial minorities, etc.  While these sorts of judgment calls are a constant in history studies, these are so blatantly ideological in nature as to take one&#8217;s breath away.
