So why is Trent Lott&#8217;s Mississippi house more worth of government protection than the lives of my family?<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/googlesystem.blogspot.com\/2009\/09\/show-gmail-labels-with-unread-messages.html\">Show Gmail Labels with Unread Messages<\/a> &#8211; Ah. Nestle basically says, &#8220;It&#8217;s not really us buying from her, it&#8217;s a named subsidiary. And it&#8217;s from unmarked trucks from the dairy estate she has her first son operating, and besides it&#8217;s not contractual but cash on delivery &#8230; so &#8230; we&#8217;re legal, right?&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/2009\/09\/24\/conrad-france-health-care\/\">Kent Conrad claims U.S. doesn\u2019t need a public option because France doesn\u2019t  have one.<\/a> &#8211; Okay &#8212; I guess that means we should go ahead and adopt a system like France&#8217;s. We\u2019re going  through these cycles.\u2019<\/a> &#8211; Global Warming is a hoax because God will take care of it?  Um &#8230; shall we get into a debate about the Problem of Evil, Senator Inhofe?<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/2009\/09\/25\/blue-shield-denies\/\">Insurer Denies Woman\u2019s Claim: She Should Have Known That Her Bleeding Breast  Was Not An \u2018Emergency\u2019<\/a> &#8211; For-profit health care means someone making money trumps someone getting health care.  It&#8217;s really that simple.  Worse, not only do you end up with folks getting denied coverage for treatment that was (or was believed to be) critical, but you end up with a &#8220;chilling effect,&#8221; where the assumption is that insurance companies will deny coverage, so folks delay treatment. Which, of course, leads to death, but, hey, that doesn&#8217;t impact Aetna&#8217;s quarterly earnings statement, so who cares?<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/2009\/09\/26\/bush-katrina-song\/\">Children sang Bush\u2019s praises, but conservatives now call such behavior \u2018indoctrination,\u2019 \u2018propaganda.\u2019: Faiz Shakir<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/random-average.com\/index.php\/2009\/09\/danger-patrol-zombie-kong-and-plan-8-from-planet-x\/\">Danger Patrol: Zombie Kong and Plan 8 from Planet X<\/a> &#8211; OMG. I WANT.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.massively.com\/2009\/09\/26\/the-daily-grind-should-all-games-have-fast-travel\/\">The Daily Grind: Should all games have fast travel?<\/a> &#8211; Yes. Yes they should.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/stupidevilbastard.com\/index\/seb\/comments\/wrongly_held_at_gitmo_for_seven_years_an_innocent_man_is_about_to_be_set_fr\/\">Wrongly held at Gitmo for seven years an innocent man is about to be set free.<\/a> &#8211; This is PRECISELY why due process is not some casual luxury that we should allow when it&#8217;s convenient. This could be an American citizen.  For all we know, there are American citizens in a similar situation.  And certainly if  another country treated one of ours this way, we&#8217;d be baying to the moon to call in missile strikes and extraction teams. That the Bush Administration sought to normalize such treatment is an indelible blot on our nation&#8217;s reputation and soul.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/feeds.boingboing.net\/~r\/boingboing\/iBag\/~3\/TmBGej9XSqU\/itsy-bitsy-teenie-we.html\">Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Burqini<\/a> &#8211; I don&#8217;t have any objection to providing options to those who don&#8217;t want to show skin.  I object to condemnation of those choose otherwise, or who seek to impose their skin-phobia on others. Plus, it&#8217;s worth noting that wearing an outfit like this in some cultures and countries would <b>still<\/b> get you stoned.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationaljournal.com\/njmagazine\/st_20090926_4826.php\">If Air Travel Worked Like Health Care &#8211; National Journal Magazine<\/a> &#8211; Amusing and interesting &#8212; but not so much analogous to the health insurance debacle going on, but a combination of (a) lack of unified group practices (e.g., the Kaiser model), (b) a profit-based system that acts as a profit-added tax to every step of the system, and (c) customer paranoia (justified or not) about their medical records (somewhat justified to the extent that insurers &#8212; and insurer-hounded employers &#8212; are inclined to drop anyone like a hot potato who actually uses medical services).<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/feedproxy.google.com\/~r\/EnTequilaEsVerdad\/~3\/gQGlg_AmzqM\/my-thoughts-exactly.html\">My Thoughts Exactly: noreply@blogger.com (Dana Hunter)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries &#8230;.
