That said, the irony of &#8220;Vote for the Defense Bill or we&#8217;ll attack you for hating the troops next election&#8221; GOP suddenly getting a &#8220;conscience&#8221; is pretty zany.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/feedproxy.google.com\/~r\/fortuneapple20\/~3\/y1lN0E3-Dcs\/\">The best analysis money can buy<\/a> &#8211; Gartner&#8217;s analysis of where things are going is usually pretty sketchy &#8212; no worse or no better than any other pundit.  They do usually have some interesting info about what&#8217;s going on <s>now<\/s>, which is helpful for folks trying to draw their own conclusions.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/feedproxy.google.com\/~r\/allfacebook\/~3\/XDDg3469YrI\/\">Facebook Vs Twitter Round 2: A Comparison Of The Top Users<\/a> &#8211; Because I live or die based on whether more people are following Michael Jackson on Twitter or on Facebook.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/feedproxy.google.com\/~r\/DigitalPhotographySchool\/~3\/RdJ1aSSv2n0\/21-impressive-tree-images\">21 Impressive Tree Images<\/a> &#8211; These are very cool.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2009\/10\/08\/opinion\/08kristof.html?pagewanted=print\">Op-Ed Columnist &#8211; Let Congress Go Without Insurance &#8211; NYTimes.com<\/a> &#8211; A brilliant idea: to the extent that Americans are uncovered or inadequately covered, a random group of Congresscritters have their government-provided coverage eliminated or curtailed.  What could be more fair?  I second the motion.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2009\/10\/04\/opinion\/04kristof.html?_r=3&amp;ref=opinion&amp;pagewanted=print\">Dad\u2019s Life or Yours? You Choose &#8211; NYTimes.com<\/a> &#8211; Another unintended (by society, not by insurers) consequence of our current system &#8212; you don&#8217;t dare get tested for a potential condition, lest the insurance company dump you (at which point nobody else will pick you up).  Even of the testing could help you be treated to delay the condition.  Even if the testing is necessary to save someone else&#8217;s life.  And this is the best medical care system in the world again because &#8230;?<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.abcnews.go.com\/print?id=8724327\">When Your Employer Owns a Life Insurance Policy On You<\/a> &#8211; I can see this as a hedge against the loss of a key executive.  But for lower-level employees, it&#8217;s a bizarre practice, and sounds like an excellent tax loophole to close (and, at the very least, the policies should have to terminate upon leaving employment).  It isn&#8217;t actually hurting anyone, save from emotional turmoil, but that doesn&#8217;t make it right.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/scottpaeth.typepad.com\/main\/2009\/10\/whenisareligioussymbol.html\">Scott Paeth: When Is a Religious Symbol Not a Religious Symbol?<\/a> &#8211; The more devout the believer, they quicker they seem to be to argue that their faith&#8217;s religious symbol isn&#8217;t religious but universal (and thus arguably secular) in nature.
