She says he had never expressed any interest in the Taliban or a any other militant version of Islam. \u201cIf he got involved with the Taliban, he must have been brainwashed,\u201d she says. \u201cHe was isolated. He didn\u2019t know a soul in Pakistan. When you\u2019re young and impressionable, it\u2019s easy to be led by charismatic people.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019m proud of John,\u201d [his father] says. \u201cHe\u2019s a really good boy.
