They don&#8217;t have a principled stance in the first place &#8212; it&#8217;s all about their winning (and making the other side lose).<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/prog21.dadgum.com\/29.html\">prog21: A Spellchecker Used to Be a Major Feat of Software Engineering<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/feedproxy.google.com\/~r\/typepad\/sethsmainblog\/~3\/awveN_tBPMI\/teaching-the-market-a-lesson.html\">Teaching the market a lesson<\/a> &#8211; Adapt or die.  That&#8217;s the ruthless lesson of economics (which is generally good for innovation for the consumer, sometimes not so good for the workers).  But book publishers can&#8217;t hold back the tide &#8212; they need to figure out how to use new technologies, not suppress them.  Denial is not a long-term healthy state of mind.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/whitecoatunderground\/2009\/11\/the_r_word_why_we_shouldnt_fea.php?utm_source=combinedfeed&amp;utm_medium=rss\">The &#8220;R&#8221; word: why we shouldn&#8217;t fear health care rationing : White Coat Underground<\/a> &#8211; I concur that transparency &#8212; and a transparent appeals  system &#8212; would allow both the recognition of the rationing already occurring, and the rationing that is part of any provision of a limited good to a seemingly unlimited demand.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2009\/11\/13\/palins-book-goes-rogue-on_n_357682.html\">&#8220;Going Rogue&#8221; Fact Check: Palin&#8217;s Book Goes Rogue On Some Facts, AP Says<\/a> &#8211; If a lot of these sound familiar, it&#8217;s because the book rehashes a lot of Palin&#8217;s (previously-debunked) claims from the &#8217;08 campaign.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.suntimes.com\/news\/nation\/1884238,gitmo-illinois-thomson-prison-111409.article\">Illinois prison in running to house Gitmo detainees<\/a> &#8211; Prediction: accusations that Obama is favoring Illinois by sparing them from moving any terrorists there will be replaced by accusations that Obama is favoring Illinois by cutting them a big detention center deal.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/feedproxy.google.com\/~r\/TheMudflats\/~3\/kh1NM3iBoww\/\">Abandon Truth All Ye Who Enter Here\u2026<\/a> &#8211; Yes, it&#8217;s telling that Palin&#8217;s first public act in the book is to tacitly deny it was partially ghost written.
