In part it was that I missed having Margie around (though she was feeling much better and holding court in bed from the back room with various well-wishers and party-goers), part of it was that I was still dog-tired from my own recovery from the creeping crud.<\/p>\n<p>I spent a fair amount of time sitting in the back patio, where it was relatively cool, I could sort of enjoy the murmur of the party without having to actually socialize. (&#8220;Yes, I am feeling better today. Margie broke her ankle slipping on snow. Yes, a shame she came down with the stomach bug. Yes, we love living in Denver.&#8221;)<\/p>\n<p>Which is why I got to overhear a set of party-attenders chatting by the back door.\u00a0 I was torn over whether I should go over and call them out as idiots, but decided (a) it wasn&#8217;t my house, (b) it wasn&#8217;t going to make any difference, and (c) I really was dog-tired.<\/p>\n<p>So I got to listen to &#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;It looks like they got the 60th vote for the bill.&#8221; &#8220;Oh, that&#8217;s just so awful.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;I listen to Rush and Glenn Beck when I drive my car. They&#8217;re great.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Glenn was on Jay Leno the other night.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Various nattering about how the Tiger Woods thing was so &#8220;disgusting.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Well, you know, with the health bill, they just want it passed so it&#8217;s a feather in Obama&#8217;s cap.\u00a0 And none of it takes effect until he&#8217;s out of office, so he&#8217;s leaving the mess for the next president.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ah, the joys of Orange County &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE:\u00a0 Nothing personal against the many in Orange County who don&#8217;t think Rush and Glenn are &#8220;great.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was only somewhat social during the big Christmas party last night.
