But it also demonstrated another difference between Google and MS\/Apple &#8212; it was not done to lock in users or financially profit from their info, but to empower users. Plus, they corrected the problem far, far faster than MS or Apple traditionally does.  If these are the &#8220;worst fears,&#8221; then Google need worry most about the tech press.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/feedproxy.google.com\/~r\/Three-starDavesSharedItemsInGoogleReader\/~3\/hQVglRzTSoM\/\">George Will: Time For Some Significant Fact-Checking<\/a> &#8211; The problem with dealing with science via legislation is that science (and the math that goes with it) is not well understood by many, even most, outside the scientific community.  Which opens the door for both confusion and disingenuous misinterpretation.  To echo DOF re Wills&#8217; breathless pontification, &#8220;Perhaps the glaciers and Arctic ice cover has been receding because of fright caused by &#8216;hysterical climate scientists.'&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/feedproxy.google.com\/~r\/Three-starDavesSharedItemsInGoogleReader\/~3\/WT2i-xxCP50\/microsoft-on-google-apps.html\">Microsoft on Google Apps<\/a> &#8211; Google Apps, as an enterprise solution, does have limitations.  But it is also a cleaner solution that 80% of enterprises would find of serious value.  If I were starting a business, I&#8217;d go that way.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/feedproxy.google.com\/~r\/Three-starDavesSharedItemsInGoogleReader\/~3\/qPRh8xNTOBo\/022508.php\">The actual soft-on-terror White House<\/a> &#8211; &#8220;Republicans just keep moving further and further to the right, so much so that even Ronaldus Magnus looks pretty liberal by comparison.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/feedproxy.google.com\/~r\/Three-starDavesSharedItemsInGoogleReader\/~3\/x-ktcnYwuNM\/022513.php\">An unexpected hand for reform advocates<\/a> &#8211; &#8220;Think about that. The voice of private health insurers is willing to admit, on the record, that the market-based system that&#8217;s currently in place &#8212; and which Republicans are intent on leaving intact &#8212; is simply &#8216;broken.'&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/feedproxy.google.com\/~r\/Three-starDavesSharedItemsInGoogleReader\/~3\/UT7rSMwPIzU\/\">Petraeus suggests soldiers would not care about serving with openly gay men  and women.<\/a> &#8211; The Right, having held up folks like Powell and Petraeus as the experts on military matters that the Left should bow down to, seems quite willing to ignore what they have to say when it doesn&#8217;t jibe with their own inclinations or talking points.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/feedproxy.google.com\/~r\/Three-starDavesSharedItemsInGoogleReader\/~3\/V9ORXs8m2Pk\/sony-blocks-online-play-for-used-copies-of-psp-game\">Sony Blocks Online Play for Used Copies of PSP Game [Gaming]<\/a> &#8211; The war on used games by the software publishers continues.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/feedproxy.google.com\/~r\/Three-starDavesSharedItemsInGoogleReader\/~3\/540GcKlz5SE\/alcohol-poisoning.html\">Alcohol Poisoning<\/a> &#8211; Which is a remarkably callous and &#8220;we know people are likely to die, but tough noogies&#8221; kind of attitude to take.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries &#8230;.
