{"id":17034,"date":"2010-04-04T20:30:22","date_gmt":"2010-04-05T03:30:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/?p=17034"},"modified":"2010-04-05T17:37:57","modified_gmt":"2010-04-06T00:37:57","slug":"easter-morning-and-evening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2010\/04\/04\/easter-morning-and-evening.html","title":{"rendered":"Easter, morning and evening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Easter Morning <\/strong>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re usually not big Easter Sunday attendees, largely because of the pomp, circumstance, and crowds.\u00a0 However, due to various (self-volunteering) circumstances, we ended up all serving in the mid-morning Easter Mass at our church &#8212; Margie and I both as eucharistic (chalice) ministers and lectors, and Katherine as acolyte (altar girl).<\/p>\n<p>That all went fine, and it was kind of cool all serving together.\u00a0 The only down side was that they let the kids go before the final choir &#8220;Hallelujah&#8221; and blessing in order to do the Easter Egg hunt out on the lawn. And\u00a0 there was Kay, watching through the window as all the kids ran around, grabbing Easter Eggs while she sat, waiting for the service to finish &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Well, she was more than a bit crestfallen, and even though she headed out as soon as all was done and she was un-vested, the eggs had all been gathered up &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230; until the folks organizing the event realized that she&#8217;d missed out on the festivities, at which point they cracked out the reserve eggs (plastic shells with treats inside), and various kids still around volunteered some of their eggs and &#8220;hid&#8221; them for Kay to find.<\/p>\n<p>A lot of fun, and a really neat example of caring for one another.\u00a0 Nice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Easter Afternoon <\/strong>&#8230;<\/p>\n<div class=\"img-shadow-right\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 232px; height: 270px;\" title=\"Easter Eggs!\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/images\/easter-eggs.jpg\" alt=\"imgTag\" \/><\/div>\n<p>We are usually the Easter locale for our social circle, and this year was no exception.\u00a0 We had De and Ray, Jackie and Kaylee, Doyce and Kate, Stan and Joanne (his mom, first-time guest), Randy, Dave G., Amanda, Angie.\u00a0 Full house, and much fun, with much consumption of hors d&#8217;oevres beforehand.In a break from tradition (acknowledging both the left-over clutter from home improvement projects and the growing age of the young&#8217;uns), we held the Easter Egg Hunt out in the front yard.\u00a0 Randy, Jackie and I planted the shells.\u00a0 Kaylee (at 4) was allowed to run around at full tilt.\u00a0 Ray and Kay had to run back to their baskets on the front patio with each egg (two for Ray) they found.\u00a0 Tremendous fun, it seemed, was had by all.<\/p>\n<p>Margie made a yummy dinner of ham, lamb, cheesy potatoes, and asparagus and zucchini. Various desserts were brought by various participants.\u00a0 Several bottles were extracted from the wine cellar.<\/p>\n<p>A very fun occasion, and great to have everyone over.
