{"id":17251,"date":"2010-05-01T18:28:27","date_gmt":"2010-05-02T00:28:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/?p=17251"},"modified":"2014-11-10T15:20:25","modified_gmt":"2014-11-10T22:20:25","slug":"movie-trailer-mania","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2010\/05\/01\/movie-trailer-mania.html","title":{"rendered":"Movie trailer mania!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/movie-theaters.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-17252\" title=\"movie-theaters\" src=\"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/movie-theaters-300x235.jpg\" alt=\"movie-theaters\" width=\"300\" height=\"235\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/movie-theaters-300x235.jpg 300w, https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/movie-theaters.jpg 809w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 85vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Seeing two very different movies in the theater this weekend, I had a chance to see an array of trailers.\u00a0 First, for ones that were before <em>How to Train Your Dragon:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Prince of Persia <\/em>&#8211; Looks like parkour is, appropriately, highly emphasized in this movie.\u00a0 Looks fun.<\/li>\n<li><em>Karate Kid <\/em>&#8211; I was not wowed by the idea of this remake.\u00a0 I&#8217;m still not, but except for the window dressing changes, it looks like they&#8217;re making a pretty faithful remake of the original.\u00a0 That begs the issue of why you&#8217;d want to, though watching the original is a bit &#8230; painful these days.<\/li>\n<li><em>The Last Airbender <\/em>&#8211; On the down side, an older trailer than some of the ones I&#8217;ve seen online lately.\u00a0 On the up side, big screen and no caching issues! Woot!<\/li>\n<li><em>Megamind <\/em>&#8211; An animated film about a super-villain. Meh.<\/li>\n<li><em>Legend of the Guardians <\/em>&#8211; Kay is definitely on the wait list for this one.\u00a0 Talking Owls! Magical Adventures and Quests! It&#8217;s got her name written all over it.<\/li>\n<li><em>Despicable Me <\/em>&#8211; Another animated film about a super-villain &#8230; but this one looks funny.<\/li>\n<li><em>Shrek <\/em>&#8211; An intriguing reboot (magically) of the franchise, which may actually give it a bit of freshness again.<\/li>\n<li><em>Toy Story 3 <\/em>&#8211; It looks as good the first two &#8230; which begs the issue, again, of why.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And before <em>Losers:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Sex &amp; the City 2 <\/em>&#8211; I am so glad I never watched this show. Or the first movie.\u00a0 Or &#8230; anything about it. Bleah.<\/li>\n<li><em>Step Up 3 <\/em>&#8211; I would much rather watch the impressive dance numbers than the second-rate <em>Fame <\/em>soap opera. That they are doing this in 3-D is &#8230; an interesting idea.\u00a0 For the dancing, at least.<\/li>\n<li><em>Takers <\/em>&#8211; Gritty urban crime caper thing, full of guys trying to demonstrate they are bad-asses. Um, not feeling the interest in this trailer.<\/li>\n<li><em>MacGruber <\/em>&#8211; A spoof of the action-spy genre sounds like a great idea.\u00a0 This movies does not.<\/li>\n<li><em>Lottery Ticket <\/em>&#8211; Black kid in the &#8216;hood wins the Lottery, but can&#8217;t turn in the ticket (for some improbable reason) for three\u00a0 days.\u00a0 Hilarity, sex, and violence ensue.<\/li>\n<li><em>Splice <\/em>&#8211; They created it in a lab! It got loose! And it&#8217;s DEADLY!
