  4. Glenn Beck\u2019s History \u201cProfessor\u201d David Barton On Racism and the Three-Fifths Rule | Religion Dispatches<\/a> – (1) The Founders spoke with one voice on very little. There were well-known Founders who were fully behind support and expansion of slavery, and others who were dead-set against it. (2) Beck has the scantest sliver of truth on his side — slaves were not valued “3\/5 of a person” as a shocking devaluation of blacks vs. whites. They were considered that solely as a compromise between slaveholding states (which wanted them counted fully, even if they couldn’t, of course, vote) and anti-slavery forces who didn’t want them counted at all. The South eked out the 3\/5 compromise, which still enabled them to maintain political domination of America for decades to follow .<\/li>\n
