Repeat offender becomes first person to get life for drink-driving after ninth conviction | Mail Online<\/a> – While I’m not at all surprised to see this sentence coming out of Texas, and while I’m no lover of drunk drivers, I’ll note that (a) the man is being given a life sentence for something he MIGHT do in the future, and (b) the man is (bearing in mind the Texas conviction) black. The first is plain wrong, and the second makes me think there is more than just “tough justice” going on here.<\/li>\n
  2. Stay Classy Harry<\/a> – ‘Nuff said. Except I’m sure I’ll feel compelled to say more.<\/li>\n
  3. REPORT: Partisan Spending On Judicial Elections Soars<\/a> – Why am I (sadly) not surprised that Roberts, Alito, Thomas and Scalia don’t see anything wrong with massive judicial campaign contributions?<\/li>\n
  4. August 22 is National Go-Topless Day<\/a> – While I’m not sure about it being a fundamental right, I’m certainly willing to entertain demonstrative arguments in the matter.<\/li>\n
  5. Most people in the dark about best ways to save energy<\/a> – Interesting. And while I consider myself relatively informed, some of the stats provided were a surprise to me.<\/li>\n
  6. Coding Horror: Whatever Happened to Voice Recognition?<\/a> – The fact is, a keyboard (and keypad, for those do Do Numbers) is an incredibly efficient and relatively error-free input device. Why do we actually need voice recognition (aside from transcripts)?<\/li>\n
  7. Appeals court puts gay marriages on hold, sets December hearing – ContraCostaTimes.com<\/a> – Unfortunate, and I think it would have been legitimate to let gay marriages resume (since there already are thousands on the books), but at least it’s on the docket.<\/li>\n
