These books were great. Think “The Hardy Boys,” only featuring 1960s hi-tech gadgetry. The original “Tom Swift” books dealt with airships and electric rifles and photo telephones and other such whiz-bang widgets. Tom Swift, Jr., got jetmarines <\/b>and ultrasonic cycloplanes <\/b>and polar-ray dynaspheres<\/b>. Yowzers. They were the gateway drugs to sci-fi, and I loved them.<\/p>\n
