Bush &#8211; Liberal Weenie?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A number of conservative activists are stepping up public criticism of Dubya for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/news\/741853.asp?0na=x23254C1I\">not being conservative enough<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Among his sins:<\/p>\n<li>Signing, not vetoing, campaign reform.\n<li>Leaning on Israel.\n<li>Steel tariffs.\n<li>Expanding federal powers during the War on Terrorism.<\/p>\n<p class=\"block\"> \u201cOn some fundamental questions, a sense of disappointment is spreading,\u201d said Gary L. Bauer, who is president of a group called American Values and ran against Bush in the Republican primaries. \u201cThis is a great way of discouraging grass-roots activists, who are the heart of the party.\u201d<br \/>\nAnother prominent conservative activist, Paul Weyrich, said: \u201cConservatives in a broad cross section of the movement are getting very uneasy about this presidency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>(What&#8217;s vaguely ironic about this is that I&#8217;m not sure I disagree with these particular criticisms &#8212; though there&#8217;s plenty else that I&#8217;d say Bush has been far too conservative\/right-wing on.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A number of conservative activists are stepping up public criticism of Dubya for not being conservative enough.
