  11. Google awarded a patent for thumbnails in search results. Lawsuits imminent? [TNW Google]<\/a> – It will be interesting to see how Google handles this. Unfortunately, lack of “vigorous pursuit” in patents can often lead to them being rendered legally meaningless. On the other hand, not only is this a goofy patent (sigh), but hardly something key to Google (or anyone else’s) search strategy. I suspect Google will make a grand gesture and formally declare it will not enforce this patent, gaining more in good will than they ever could by pursuing it.<\/li>\n
