Okay, maybe it's not quite this extreme of a remodel. Quite.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

So it begins …<\/p>\n

Jim and Ginger (the in-laws) are arriving today (touching ground even as I type), to lend a hand for the big home remodel we’re doing.\u00a0 Summary:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Scrape the “cottage cheese” acoustic from the vaulted ceilings in the living room, loft, master bedroom. Re-texture.<\/li>\n
  2. Demo the vanity in the downstairs bathroom. [We’re also going to replace the toilet there.]<\/li>\n
  3. Repaint the full downstairs interior.<\/li>\n
  4. Tear out all downstairs carpeting (every room except kitchen, which has wood floors).<\/li>\n
  5. Install new carpet in the living room.<\/li>\n
  6. Install tile for all other ground floor flooring that was pulled up.<\/li>\n
  7. Install new vanity, mirror in downstairs bath.<\/li>\n
  8. Tear out carpet on stairs, and all the upstairs except the craft room and the guest bath (which have recently added surfaces).<\/li>\n
  9. Tile the WC in the master bathroom. [Replace the toilet, too.]<\/li>\n
  10. Recarpet everything else torn up; special carpet for Kay’s room and the master bedroom.<\/li>\n
  11. Paint the upstairs loft, hallway.<\/li>\n
  12. Paint (different color) the master bedroom and master bath.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Getting the stuff moved from place to place ahead of the contractors will be the real challenge.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

    Plus eleven thousand odds and ends that need to be done before, during, after, not least of which is shuffling the hazerai<\/a> <\/em>around ahead of the workers.<\/p>\n

    When it’s all done, it should be great. When.<\/p>\n

    Jim been a god-send here, applying his extensive contracting and facilities background, plus his ability to both schmooze with vendors and no-nonsense non-performers.\u00a0 He’s been coordinating the contracting process from California, and was out at Thanksgiving interviewing contractors.\u00a0 He’s going to be managing the effort onsite once things officially start on Monday.<\/p>\n

    Margie, of course, has been doing yeoman’s duty with all her research and tracking down of folks and footwork here on the Colorado side.<\/p>\n

    Me? I’ve been a lazy bum, occasionally glancing at swathes and saying, “No, too puce,” and other such helpful contributions.<\/p>\n
