Yeah. Again.<\/figcaption><\/figure>Earthquake! Fire! Tiiiiidal wave!<\/em><\/p>\n

Okay, so this is a tale in several parts.<\/p>\n

FRIDAY …<\/p>\n

Margie and I run off for dinner and errands. I bring my Kindle, just ’cause. While doing our final errand, I hid the Kindle in the center console. I better not leave it out on the seat,<\/em> I thought, because that would be, y’know, asking for trouble.<\/em><\/p>\n

We had lots of stuff to bring in when we got home, so I forgot to bring the Kindle in.<\/p>\n

SATURDAY …<\/p>\n

I was cleaning up for our Game Day. I was stashing away my brief case, and noticed my Kindle was not in its pocket. Ah,<\/em> I thought, it’s in the car. I’d better remember that come Monday. Being without my Kindle would be annoying.<\/em><\/p>\n

That evening, Margie “burped” the garage, as she is wont to do. \u00a0By opening up the garage door and letting it air out in the evening, it lowers the temp in there a lot. \u00a0Since the master bedroom sits on top of the garage, that makes going to sleep a lot better.<\/p>\n

Going out at night to grab the mail, I noticed the garage door was still open. \u00a0I’ll have to mention that to Margie<\/em>, thought I, because we certainly don’t want to leave the garage open all night. That would be risky.<\/em><\/p>\n

SUNDAY …<\/p>\n

Margie and I are getting ready for church. \u00a0“We didn’t get the garage door closed last night, did we?” “Um …”<\/p>\n

Now, this is not the first time we’ve done this. \u00a0It’s a little easier to forget, since we’re keeping not just the back door closed but the cat door as well, with the current cat contingent. \u00a0So it happens once or twice a year. \u00a0We got a warning from patrolling\u00a0sheriffs\u00a0once. \u00a0But, bottom line, we live in a pretty safe neighborhood, so never any problem.<\/p>\n

You can see where this is going …<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/em>
Yeah, nothing nearly this exciting<\/figcaption><\/figure>I was first out to the garage to load up for church. \u00a0And, yes, the garage door was open. \u00a0And … hey, my car’s driver side door is open …<\/p>\n

I look inside the car. \u00a0It looks undisturbed. \u00a0Radio’s still there and all that.<\/p>\n

Walk around to \u00a0Margie’s car. \u00a0Aaaaaand … it’s driver side door is open, too.<\/p>\n

And I get in, and the dashboard pocket door is open. \u00a0And in the console …<\/p>\n

Nada. \u00a0No Kindle.<\/p>\n

Nobody to blame but us. \u00a0And, irksome. \u00a0And, no, nothing else in the garage was missing, and it was almost certainly some kid walking past to seized a tempting target of opportunity, done quickly enough they didn’t even close the driver-side doors.<\/p>\n
