{"id":22631,"date":"2011-09-11T14:50:02","date_gmt":"2011-09-11T20:50:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/?p=22631"},"modified":"2011-09-11T14:50:02","modified_gmt":"2011-09-11T20:50:02","slug":"the-worlds-most-annoying-or-beloved-comic-book-heroes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2011\/09\/11\/the-worlds-most-annoying-or-beloved-comic-book-heroes.html","title":{"rendered":"The world&#8217;s most annoying (or beloved) comic book heroes?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The folks at iFanboy have suggestions for the <a href=\"http:\/\/ifanboy.com\/articles\/top-5-comics-book-characters-you-either-love-or-hate\/\">Top 5 Comic Book Characters You Either Love of Hate<\/a>. \u00a0And, by golly, their suggestions aren&#8217;t bad ones:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Gambit <\/strong>&#8211; I don&#8217;t mind Gambit all that much, except for his costume and his background (and plotlines driven thereby, which are far too many). \u00a0The rest of the time he&#8217;s no worse or better than your average 80s X-mutant.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Captain Marvel<\/strong> &#8211; I&#8217;ve always thought the Big Red Cheese was just way too goofy. \u00a0But when you take the goofiness away, there&#8217;s not much left. \u00a0Captain Marvel is only of interest when either (a) playing to the mildly goofy tone (the Giffen\/DeMatteis JL, for example), or (b) as a magical contrast to Superman. \u00a0But I&#8217;ve little interest in him in and of himself.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Aquaman <\/strong>&#8211; The only run of Aquaman I&#8217;ve ever enjoyed has been Peter David&#8217;s. \u00a0As a guest star, he&#8217;s fine, but Aquaman&#8217;s been screwed with as to origin and nature more than pretty much any other male DC hero. \u00a0I&#8217;ve zero interest in his new relaunch by Geoff Johns.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Deadpool <\/strong>&#8211; I have never read a Deadpool story, or appearance, that I enjoyed. Ever.
