Perhaps it&#39;s laziness. Perhaps it&#39;s confirmation bias. Perhaps it&#39;s an intentional disingenuity for a &quot;good cause.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>And with the &quot;news&quot; media is particularly awful.<\/p>\n<p><i>&quot;This goes beyond &#39;he said, she said&#39; reporting to credulous &#39;fruit bat said&#39; reporting.&quot;<\/i><\/p>\n<p>When I read a highly editorialized excerpt of a news article, I usually click through to the news article and blog that.  And sometimes I drill down several layers.  And sometimes I find that the source material doesn&#39;t really support the &quot;operator&quot; game layers of editorializing.<\/p>\n<p>The truth is out there.  But if you&#39;re just forwarding along what you hear, you&#39;re not pursuing the truth, you&#39;re just looking for comforting lies.
