Yeah, as someone who's done a fair amount of international travel, variations in plug designs are a fair PitA. I've had to deal with 4 of the 5 noted here (though I've been to India, the outlets at the hotel were "universal" ones, and we didn't plug in at the offfice). There's no obvious answer, as there's a huge, vested infrastructure. <\/p>\n

Mercifully, most computer-related technology is at least able to adapt to both 110 and 220 voltage these days. In not very distant travel days, one not only needed different plugs, but voltage adapters, lest hilarity (or the odor of burning electrical equipment) ensue (recalls someone's Palm Pilot …).<\/p>\n

Until we get beamed power, or else a collapse of powered civilization, we're stuck with it. #ddtb<\/p>\n
