There's been a significant rise over the last decade of "fact-checking" organizations and newspaper columns, etc. I consider this, largely, a very good thing, and they are often convenient sources of corrective information regarding the claims of the politicians, punditry, and the partisan media.<\/p>\n

That said, while Mark Twain may have spoken of "lies, damn lies, and statistics," a fourth category he might have added would be Professional Experts Who Are Asked For Their Unbiased Opinions On Matters They Claim Impartial Expertise In. Because they too often aren't<\/i> one or more of those adjectives … #ddtb<\/p>\n
