Some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/articles\/A61546-2002Jun16.html\">recent studies<\/a> indicate that folks <a href=\"http:\/\/www.csmonitor.com\/2002\/0619\/p08s01-comv.html\">don&#8217;t remember commercials as well<\/a> if the show is graphically violent or sexual.  More visceral content seems to distract viewers from the ad messages.<\/p>\n<p>In some ways, that&#8217;s almost a no-brainer (literally), but nobody seems to have thought of it before now.  <\/p>\n<p>So, will advertisers &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230; force TV producers to tone down the sex and violence?<\/p>\n<p>&#8230; pump up the sex and violence in their ads to somehow beat out the distraction?  (That doesn&#8217;t seem to work, but &#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>&#8230; ignore the study and figure that more people are watching shows that have sex and violence in them so they&#8217;d better advertise there?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Could it be?
