I actually don't usually mind these efforts by MS to come up with well-running utility programs that obsolete or bankrupt their competitors (as long as they don't exclude someone from using something else). So, yeah, I use MS Security Essentials on my home machine, rather than someone else's competing-free or pay solution. On the other hand, I usually pick up a more robust text editor than Notepad (but am glad that Notepad is there). And I wouldn't be caught dead relying on IE for my own browser.<\/p>\n

That said, as a dedicated LastPass user, I'll be curious too see how this new Win8 password manager actually works out. It's going to be hard for LastPass (et al.) to survive unless MS really stumbles on this (limiting machines to sync to, poor security, poor functionality). <\/p>\n

On the other hand, I have no great desire to rely on MS for my ultimate password security — I mean, really? Using my Windows Live password as my master password? That sounds like something that would draw plenty of attacks (and get you sucked more into Microsoft's orbit, to boot). #ddtb<\/p>\n
