So it's no surprise that the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) sent out a breathless fund-raising letter \/ email \/ blog post saying that the Navy had sent out a memo "requiring"<\/i> Navy chaplains to marry (eek!) gay people. Oh, the humanity!<\/p>\n

Except, of course, the Navy did no such thing. It sent out a memo saying that Navy chaplains may<\/i> officiate at such weddings, if their faith allows it and if it's consistent with local state laws.<\/p>\n

But let's not let anything like the "truth" get in the way of fear-whipping up the masses into a righteous frenzy. #ddtb<\/p>\n
