White House wants devastating cuts to NASA's Mars budget<\/b><\/p>\n

The Presidential NASA budget request was just made public, and while much of NASA funding remains stable overall, the White House wants to cut Mars exploration by a crippling $226 million<\/i>, a slashing of more than 38%. This means canceling two missions outright (one with European partners) and putting at risk long-term exploration as well.<\/p>\n

I'm pretty angry – and very disappointed in President Obama – and lay it all out in the post linked below. This is complicated – politics plays a role, as do cost overruns for other missions – but in the end, it's all because as a nation we do not put enough emphasis on science and exploration.<\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
