I'm trying to figure out whether the "outrage! outrage, I tell you!" over Armendariz' comments were because <\/p>\n

(a) the concept of vigorously enforcing regulations against "people who are not compliant with the law" so that you "hit them as hard as you can and you make examples out of them" (which seems to be the usual conservative tactic vs, say, non-corporate criminals) is considered outrageously inappropriate for oil companies, or <\/p>\n

(b) referring to Roman use of crucifixion as a tool for pacification, with historical context no less, as a model\/metaphor for such vigorous law enforcement activities is considered outrageously anti-Christian.<\/p>\n

Or something. It's just another stupid case of another stupid faux (Fox) controversy that leads to a resignation in a Democratic administration. Whereas a Republican would have simply said "The Democrats have no sense of humor" or "I was just joking" and gotten a promotion instead.<\/p>\n
