So this is what arrived yesterday for my tabletty pleasure: a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0), a 7" Android tablet running ICS. It's WiFi only, which already is kind of interesting, and not all the accessories (in particular, the cover I purchased) have arrived, but I spent a few hours last night configuring it, loading (or placing) the apps I want, etc.<\/p>\n

It's the same size as a Kindle Fire, but without the heavy and (for me) frustrating Amazon overlay. \u00a0I went with the 7" form factor sort of as a testing-the-waters. \u00a0It saved me a chunk of change vs a 10" tablet, and I'd rather wait and see how a tablet actually fits into my life. \u00a0I went for a WiFi only one as well for similar reasons (not wanting to add an extra $30-50\/month for a tablet data plan through Verizon played a role there).<\/p>\n

I have to confess, I'm a bit tired of dealing with different UI overlays to the Android OS. \u00a0I've worked through HTC, then Motorola, and now Samsung's particular interface twist to Android, and it's mildly irksome. (Though less irksome than working through the Amazon UI on the Fire.)<\/p>\n

That aside, though, I'm liking it a lot — and seriously considering bringing it, rather than my work laptop, to the offsite meeting next week. \u00a0Maybe. \u00a0Would certainly save a few pounds of baggage coming and going. \u00a0Need to play some more.<\/p>\n
