What was/is your favorite subject in school? Why?

Math. Because I was so good at it, and understood concepts the other kids didn’t, like negative numbers and set theory (“I was there at the Dawn of the New Math Age …”).

2. Who was your favorite teacher? Why?

Mrs. Sullivan, 3rd Grade. She was nice, she liked me, and she could play a mean autoharp.

3. What is your favorite memory of school?

Playing in the sandbox at recess with little toy cars. We found that below the soft sandy surface was a quasi-sandstone base, where the sand had hardened up with water and time. We could carve out great Flintstone-like caves and tunnels and so forth with the cars, then put the cars inside, then bury it all until the next recess. Great fun.

4. What was your favorite recess game?

Either playing some sort of pirate ship/space ship game on the jungle gym, or else hand ball (which I was pretty good at). I enjoyed dodge ball, too, since I was pretty quick, and usually thinking a few steps ahead.

5.
