{"id":28535,"date":"2012-07-11T21:52:22","date_gmt":"2012-07-12T03:52:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2012\/07\/11\/its-hard-to-grow-jobs-when-you-keep-cutting-them.html"},"modified":"2012-07-11T21:52:22","modified_gmt":"2012-07-12T03:52:22","slug":"its-hard-to-grow-jobs-when-you-keep-cutting-them","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2012\/07\/11\/its-hard-to-grow-jobs-when-you-keep-cutting-them.html","title":{"rendered":"It&#39;s hard to grow jobs when you keep cutting them"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Given that we still have close to four unemployed for every job opening out there, continuing to slash public workforces not only slices into needed\u00a0services, but plain old puts people out of work. \u00a0And then the people doing the slashing (or applauding it) criticize the Administration for joblessness. \u00a0Smooth move.<\/p>\n<p>And, yes, those public jobs cost tax money. \u00a0So what? \u00a0You can pay for them as private employees (through the cost of goods), you can pay for them as public employees (through taxes), you can pay for them as unemployed (through poverty benefits), or you can pay to carry their bodies to the morgue. \u00a0You pay for it one way or the other.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, if someone goes from being a police officer to flipping burgers at McDonald&#39;s, I guess that &quot;costs&quot; less. In some ways.
