I'm pretty sure I've debunked most of this in the past, but just for the record:<\/p>\n

1. The "Nazis" used "Socialist" in their name because, at the time they were forming, it was the "cool" think to call your party. \u00a0It was no more a socialist organization than the Democratic People's Republic of North Korea is Democratic, of the People, or a Republic. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Indeed, the Nazis contended mightily with the (true) Socialists and Communists in Germany prior to ascending power, and many who belonged to those groups — if they didn't have their heads broken in by the SA — ended up in prison or the camps.<\/p>\n

2. Yes, the Democratic party in the Deep South was radically racist, and remained the voice of Southern Conservatism for a century after the Civil War because of the Republican government of the North that defeated them then ground them down through the Reconstruction. \u00a0<\/p>\n

And then in the 60s-70s, the GOP "Southern Strategy" got all those hidebound racists to join the Republican party, where they remain today.<\/p>\n

So …<\/p>\n

3. Claiming that the racist Neo-Nazi killer at the Sikh temple was a liberal because (a) the Nazis have the liberal world "socialist" in their party name, and (b) the southern Democrats ("Dixiecrats") were racists is (c) doltish.<\/p>\n

So knock it off.<\/p>\n
