I went back and looked at my 2008 blog posts post-election, and found (at https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2008\/11\/07\/whats_blue_and_red_and_pu.html<\/a>) \u00a0M E J Newman\u2019s site to find a lot of map and cartograms of the 2012 election results.<\/p>\n

One of my favorites is below, which is like the by-county map I used earlier, but shading<\/i> between red and blue to represent county mixtures of votes. \u00a0There are other variations on this, as well as proportionate cartograms (which get a bit messy).<\/p>\n
