{"id":3131,"date":"2002-08-05T22:43:45","date_gmt":"2002-08-06T03:43:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/wp\/?p=3131"},"modified":"2002-08-05T22:43:45","modified_gmt":"2002-08-06T03:43:45","slug":"geeks_rule_but","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2002\/08\/05\/geeks_rule_but.html","title":{"rendered":"Geeks rule &#8230; but don&#8217;t get respect"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"I am a fanboy!\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/superman-sdcc.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"172\" border=\"0\" align=left hspace=5 \/><br \/>\nSo the <i>LA Times <\/i>this morning has an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.calendarlive.com\/top\/1,1419,L-LATimes-Movies-X!ArticleDetail-68178,00.html\">interesting article<\/a> on how the San Diego Comic-Con is evolving into a great place for Hollywood to drum up fan support, get feedback on fan concerns, and try to quash Internet rumors about movies and TV productions.  <\/p>\n<p>Yea, verily, the Hollywood sorts are actually putting a lot of time and effort into making presentations at the Con, and generally according the attendees a certain degree of respect for their influence.<\/p>\n<p>Alas, the <i>Times <\/i>has significantly less respect, since a key photo for the story &#8212; and the lead photo on the web page &#8212; is a rather sad-looking fanboy geek, gut bulging in his home-made Superman outfit, and looking generally pathetic.  &#8220;Look at me!
