A judge has upheld Sony’s rights to digitally alter buildings and billboards<\/a> in its movies.<\/p>\n

Some folks (billboard owners, in fact) had sued Sony because the company had superimposed its own product placement ads onto billboards and building sides in Spider-Man<\/i>.<\/p>\n

The judge rightly noted that this is, in fact, art, and if it’s okay to have some guy in armor blowing up buildings and people, it’s okay to have a fictional billboard digitally deleted or changed.<\/p>\n

He also dismissed the (ye gods) claim that Sony “tresspassed” by digitally scanning their buildings with lasers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
