I mean, clearly we've been living in a lawless Wild West full of terrorist bombings and drug lord shootings while those pokey old judges have been taking long vacations and otherwise sitting on urgently needed search warrants!<\/p>\n

Surely the dozen or so federal agencies covered here — everyone from the FBI to the SEC — will never take advantage of just needing a subpoena to look at anyone's cloud data.<\/p>\n

And, surely local police would never abuse the "emergency" provision of the law to let them peek at email without a warrant, either.<\/p>\n

And I'm sure<\/i> carrier notification to the people who's email is being snooped through will only rarely, if ever, be pushed out to the full year maximum delay that is being proposed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
