And, hey, is anyone surprised that the telcos think this is a great<\/i> opportunity to get out from under "monopoly era" regulations, get rid of Net Neutrality, etc.?<\/p>\n

I'm sure it's going to happen sooner or later, but it's going to be a massive undertaking and you can bet the telcos will be trying to abolish a lot of the regulations they currently have under POTS.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Two months ago, AT&T petitioned the Federal Communications Commission to plan for the retirement of traditional phone networks and transition to what AT&T sees as an inevitability: the all-IP telco.
