While this is, in some ways, "old news," it also includes previously unrevealed details about how the Catholic Archbishop of Los Angeles actively<\/i> participated in cover-ups to make sure that child abuse cases did not come to the attention of the police.<\/p>\n

This isn't "Oh, well, we didn't understand it" or "Mistakes were made" or "Subordinates didn't bring it to our attention" stuff. \u00a0This is in-writing "We better keep this guy away from a therapist because a\u00a0therapist would have to report it to the police" stuff. From someone who claimed moral and pastoral authority over one of the largest dioceses in the Church in America.<\/p>\n

I hope Abp. Mahony finds God much more merciful than I would be in His position.<\/p>\n
