{"id":32615,"date":"2013-02-24T16:13:50","date_gmt":"2013-02-24T23:13:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2013\/02\/24\/if-you-cant-control-the-medical-demand-control-the-medical-supply.html"},"modified":"2013-05-01T07:40:52","modified_gmt":"2013-05-01T13:40:52","slug":"if-you-cant-control-the-medical-demand-control-the-medical-supply","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hill-kleerup.org\/blog\/2013\/02\/24\/if-you-cant-control-the-medical-demand-control-the-medical-supply.html","title":{"rendered":"If you can&#39;t control the medical demand, control the medical supply"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"gpb-content\">While states like Alabama and their ilk are trying to make legal abortion <i>de facto<\/i> unavailable by putting abortion clinics out of business, the Catholic Church is doing the same by acquiring and expanding its hospital system across the nation, until some areas of the nation have <i>no<\/i> hospitals in the area that don&#39;t abide by the Church&#39;s &quot;Ethical and Religious Directives&quot;: \u00a0no contraception (including vasectomies and tubal ligations), no physician assisted suicide, and, of course &#8212; except in the most extreme cases where the woman&#39;s life is clearly in danger and the fetus no longer shows any heartbeat &#8212; no abortions.<\/p>\n<p>Such procedures may be legal. They may have been supported by ballot by a majority in the areas in question. But if a\u00a0hospital is owned by or in partnership with the Church, such procedures might as well not even exist. And the Church owns or is in alliance with 12% of the hospitals in the nation &#8212; in some states (such as Washington) the number climbs to over 40%.<\/p>\n<p>And, of course, unless you explicitly ask when you&#39;re go to such hospitals (or when the ambulance asks you where you want to go), you&#39;d \u00a0have no idea that was the case.
