Louie Gohmert, GOP stalwart from Texas (of course) has figured out Obama's fiendish master plot around the sequester.<\/p>\n

'\u201cWell that\u2019s not hard to figure out,\u201d Gohmert continued. \u201cWhat a great political ploy. What a great political plan to a year and a half ago come up with the idea, which the White House did, they came up with the idea of this massive sequester, and the biggest loser would be the Defense Department.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then after he gets the cuts to defense that he has been pushing for for years and years, going back to his days as a U.S. senator, he gets to come forward and spend millions and millions of dollars running around on Air Force One condemning Republicans in the House for cutting defense. What a great thing. He cuts defense, which he has been wanting to do for years, forces Republicans to go along with it, and a year and a half later blames Republicans for cutting defense and says, \u2018I wouldn\u2019t have done that, but now that defense is cut, now lets talk about restoring some of that money to the ACORN-like groups out there that are going to suffer because they are not going to have money to spend on electing Democrats in the next election if we don\u2019t return the sequester money.\u2019\u201d'<\/i><\/p>\n

Wow! What an amazing Master Plan, Louie! \u00a0But you left out the part where the GOP totally fell for it.<\/i> Not only did they welcome the original sequestration idea when the White House proposed it, but they eagerly voted in favor of it in order to pressure the Dems to accept negotiated spending cuts … which never went through (though were repeatedly offered) because they refused to raise taxes at the same time.<\/p>\n

Either Obama is, indeed, a mighty\u00a0manipulator and Macchiavelian mastermind — or he misjudged GOP intransigence over budget negotiations. Either way, the GOP has nobody to blame but itself for its role in making the sequester an idiotic reality.<\/p><\/div>\n
