If the vote for women were being debated today, I suspect there are plenty of modern conservative pundits (male and female alike) who would echo the very same arguments made against it a century ago.<\/p>\n

100 Years Ago, The 1913 Women's Suffrage Parade<\/b> – 24 photos – http:\/\/theatln.tc\/Y4bo9B<\/a> – Less than a century ago, women in the U.S. were not guaranteed the right to vote. In 1913, a massive suffrage parade took place in Washington, D.C., on March 3, the first major national suffrage demonstration. Marchers were ridiculed, tripped, and shoved by a large unruly crowd of mostly men, and the mistreatment of the marchers amplified the event into a major news story. What began in 1913 resulted in the Nineteenth Amendment in 1920.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n
