While I appreciate cities wanting to create some restrictions on drone usage, it seems to me attempts to restrain law enforcement — especially federal law enforcement — are quixotic at a local or even state level. If this is an attempt to restrict local and state law enforcement, forbidding the those agencies in particular\u00a0of aerial photography of this sort would seem a more straightforward endeavor than forbidding it in general.<\/p>\n

If this is a privacy bill, that's a somewhat different matter. But, even amended, this bill seems to ban everything from someone taking a picture of the ground from an overflying commercial air flight to Google Satellite pictures to … well pretty much anything where the camera is not mounted on the ground (with no functional difference given as to purpose — I mean, is a snooping photo taken from a nearby building or hilltop intrinsically any different from one in a drone or airplane?)<\/p><\/div>\n
