If he was simply bewildered or didn't have access to the information or honestly confused … well, maybe he'd be a dolt.<\/p>\n

Instead, he's just a liar, explicitly misrepresenting a Supreme Court ruling in order to further his ideology-driven pseudo-history. \u00a0<\/p>\n

For the record, SCOTUS did not rule that "reading the Bible in schools" would cause "brain damage" and therefore it had to be "banned". \u00a0In fact, SCOTUS didn't "ban" the Bible at all, it simply said you cannot make reading it a mandatory part of the school's curriculum and activities.<\/p>\n

Barton knows this. The ruling is plain. And the quote he throws out there is unquestionably elided by Barton to change the point of what was being said.<\/p>\n

Despite being patently untrue,\u00a0I'm sure that Barton will continue to make this\u00a0claim to his credulous followers, who will then fulminate about those Evil Judges Who Hate Jesus.<\/p><\/div>\n
