Well … poop.<\/p>\n

True, my own Reader use is way, way down over the last year or two. \u00a0Yes, Google's Plus experiment worked in most ways, though ironically one thing it has done is made me more remote from the rest of the Internet (except those bits with a Plus or Twitter presence). \u00a0Information overload, and even though I still have dozens of feeds in Reader, there's only a handful that I go in and check periodically.<\/p>\n

Frankly, the biggest shame here is the huge stake this puts in the heart of RSS, which remains a fantastic way of distributing and aggregating content, but isn't "monified" enough in some way to be worth Google (or anyone else of note) doing anything serious with it. \u00a0That strikes me as very dumb.<\/p>\n

I will need to make a concerted effort to go through my feed list and create favorites out of the sites I still follow. Irksome, and sadly it didn't need to be that way.<\/p>\n
