I'd always kind of assumed that companies that didn't cooperate with law enforcement on wiretapping \/ online monitoring were<\/i> fined. \u00a0But now it seems the Feds plan to crack down on companies that don't fully cooperate with these kind of orders … even if the excuse is that they don't have the staff to do it.<\/p>\n

(Not having the staff would seem to be a convenient excuse, but it could also be a very real thing. No word on who gets to pay (coughcustomerscough) for the overtime in these cases.)<\/p>\n

Note that leaving in back doors for the Feds to monitor through apparently carries even more risks that it seems — some hackers monitor for just that, and try to exploit those same back doors.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n
