I’ve got a new cell phone, a Nokia 8265<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I’m dumping the old Motorola V.60 (“old” in the sense of I’ve had it for a while<\/i>, “dumping” as in my company is willing to buy me a replacement after close to a year<\/a><\/i>) in favor of the Nokia. It’s a little bigger (still small), but it has some distinct advantages:<\/p>\n

  1. It’s flatter than the Motorola. Flatter is more important in some ways than shorter.\n
  2. It’s got a built-in antenna, rather than one that sticks up (and catches on things, and snaps off).\n
  3. It’s not<\/i> a flip phone. I’ve decided I hate flip phones. The hinges get loose, and it’s one more action to fumble around doing when trying to answer the phone. Bleah. Plus, I can just look down and see who’s calling (or why things are beeping), rather than having to pull the phone out and open it up.\n
  4. Motorola’s accessories are goofy.\n
  5. It has a reasonable control set, vs. the Motorola which had eleventy zillion external buttons, none of which did anything the least bit useful.<\/ol>\n

    The only down side? I ordered a belt case for it, which arrived the day the phone did.<\/p>\n

    Only it was the wrong case, for a smaller model. So I’ve had to resurrect my old (larger, ratty) Nokia 6160 case to carry it around in.<\/p>\n

    And, of course, the company I bought it from is Canadian, and taking most of the week off …<\/p>\n

    Btw, the model I got was black, not blue. I don’t plan on springing extra bucks for colorful faceplates.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
